Joint Letter on Rising Fuel Costs

Greece: Supply chain and road transport associations have sent a joint letter to the competent Ministries, highlighting the severe pressure caused by the sharp increase in diesel prices.

The letter notes that diesel prices in Greece have risen by over 45% in a short period, while fuel costs now account for up to 50% of transport operators’ total operating costs .

The associations call for the immediate adoption of effective measures, including:

• reduction or refund of Excise Duty (ED)
• introduction of a fuel indexation mechanism (automatic freight rate adjustment)

They also stress the need for immediate dialogue with the Government to ensure the smooth functioning of the supply chain.
