Georgia : Roadside inspections since 1st July, 2025

Pursuant to Decree No. 18 of the Government of Georgia, dated January 22, 2025, the "Rules for Road Inspection in the Roadside Zone" constitute an officially adopted and legally effective regulatory framework governing roadside inspections. While the regulation has been in legal force, the practical implementation of roadside inspections under this regulation will commence on July 1, 2025.
This regulation applies to vehicles of categories M2 and M3 (passenger transport) as well as N1, N2, N3, O3 and O4 (freight transport and semi-trailers). It is designed to enhance road safety, reinforce regulatory compliance and improve the overall effectiveness of roadside inspections conducted within the territory of Georgia.
Key areas of Inspection under the New Regulation:
1. Compliance with regulations concerning the transport of dangerous goods
2. Adherence to driver working and rest time requirements, including correct use of the tachograph and driver's digital card
3. Technical roadworthiness of vehicles, in line with applicable standards
4. Proper securing of goods within the vehicle
5. Valid use of international transport permits (for both passenger and freight operations)
6. Proper installation, calibration, and use of tachographs and speed-limiting devices
7. Compliance with vehicle weight and dimension requirements
