Bulgaria: Temporary truck restrictions on 24 and 26 July 2026
DRIVING RESTRICTIONS23 July 2026
The Bulgarian Road Infrastructure Agency has announced temporary traffic restrictions for trucks over 12 tonnes on 24 and 26 July 2026 оn:
- Trakia motorway,
- Struma motorway, and
- on road I-1, on the section from Simitli road junction (km 376) to the Kulata border crossing point (with Greece).
The restrictions will apply for both directions of travel:
- on Friday 24 July from 16.00 to 23.00 (Eastern European Summer Time), and
- on Sunday 26 July from 15.30 to 22.00 (EEST).
The restrictions do not apply to vehicles over 12 tonnes transporting dangerous goods (ADR), live animals, perishable food products or temperature-controlled goods, as well as specialised carcass trucks and vehicles of road maintenance companies.
Recommended alternative routes:
- for Trakia motorway: road I-6;
- for Struma motorway and road I-1: road II-19 Simitli–Gotse Delchev, from the junction of road I-1 with road II-19 in Simitli to the intersection with road III-198 in Gotse Delchev, along road III-198 Gotse Delchev–Kulata, to the intersection with road III-1981 in Chuchuligovo, and along road III-1981 to the intersection with road I-1 in Kulata, and back.
